CALAMBA CITY, Laguna - Governor Ramil L. Hernandez urged parents to guide their children and ensure that their mental health is taken care of.
He said that even children are likely to experience stress due to the current situation caused by COVID-19.
According to Gov. Hernandez's statement on his official Facebook page, it's not easy for people to cope with the pandemic, so it's normal for children to feel scared and anxious, especially because they can't avoid the latest changes in their environment.
“Mahalaga na alam natin bilang magulang o guardian kung paano aalagaan, hindi lamang ang physical, ngunit higit pati ang mental health ng mga bata. Kailangan natin silang gabayan at tulungang maunawaan ang sitwasyon,” the governor said.
In addition to educating parents, he also offered suggestions about how to keep children healthy during COVID 19 as well as making sure they keep up with their daily routines.
Also, make sure that they have time available to study even when they're not in school, guide them in interacting with their classmates and friends over the phone or the internet.
Give them the opportunity to play and relax, and also give them enough time and attention, it is also important to encourage children to talk about their feelings, and if they are unable to express their thoughts, let them write or draw their feelings.
This is also best to explain to children so they can understand what COVID 19 is and that they can also learn what to do and what not to do in the present situation.
