CAVITE - The Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) has approved the motorcycle pillion riding, a lawmaker said on Monday.
Gov. Jonvic Remulla of Cavite said that the agency has approved his appeal earlier for the motorcycle back ride especially for the couples.
"[Spokesperson Harry] Roque said the IATF for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases [EID] has approved motorcycle pillion riding 'in principle' and has formed a technical working group that would determine the safest and most effective manner to reduce the rate of transmission,” Remulla said on his Facebook account.
In May, Remulla has appealed to the IATF-EID to allow motorcycle back riding for couples who are married or cohabitating.
"I want to request that back riding be allowed for married couples and those who cohabitate. They sleep in one bed, eat at the same table, share a cup of rice, and pass on food with their bare hands. This is the kind of life here and in the entire country," he said.
However, Remulla clarifies that this statement means "'ok' this only means we're almost there."
Mayors of Cavite are now talking about having a "tandem pass" for the commuters from the same house.
