LUCENA CITY - Quezon province has the lowest confirmed coronavirus desease (COVID-19) cases in Calabarzon region due to continuing cooperation and collaboration of its local government units (LGUs) and non- government organizations (NGOs), a top police official said.
P/Brig. Gen. Vicente Danao, Jr., commander of the Police Regional Office- Calabarzon disclosed this during the inauguration of Quezon Police Provincial Office (QPPO) Quarantine Facility at Camp Guillermo Nakar in this city where he was the guest of honor and speaker.
The facility construction was funded by the provincial government of Quezon under Governor Danilo Suarez while the medical equipment and materials were provided by the city government of Lucena under Mayor Roderick Alcala and private donors led by Federation of Filipino Chamber of Commerce represented by Nelson Licup, the vice chairman of its welfare committee.
The quarantine facility is intended for members of QPPO serving as frontliners who have been infected and those who would be infected by COVD-19, according to Quezon police director Col. Audie Madrideo.
Danao compared Quezon to Cavite, Laguna, Batangas and Rizal provinces which are much ahead in terms of positve COVID-19 cases and even when it comes to number of fatalities.
"That is because of you in the LGUs and NGOs here in Quezon who have been working hand in hand in fighting the pandemic", said Danao.
The police regional director also graced the inauguration of the newly renovated Lucena City Anti- Drug Abuse Council office where Mayor Alcala officially turned over 2 mobile patrol cars for the use of Lucena City police station under Lt. Col. Romulo Albacea.
