TAYABAS CITY - A former member of the defunct Philippine Constabulary was killed after he engaged in a shootout with cops who were about to arrest him at Brgy. Alitao in this City on Friday.

Quezon police director, Col. Audie Madrideo said the slain suspect, Jose Lubrica, 70, suffered two bullet wounds in the body and died on the spot.

Madrideo, in his report to Calabarzon police director Brig. Gen. Vicente Danao, Jr. said the suspect has two murder cases at Lucena City Regional Trial Court Branch 56 and 59.

Armed with two warrants of arrest, Madrideo said combined elements of Tayabas City police station led by its commander, Major Mark Amat, Regional Intelligence Division, Regional Special Operations Unit, and Provincial Intelligence Unit, Madrideo tried to accost the suspect at 11:15 a.m.

But instead of giving himself up, Amat said the suspect opened fire using a Norinco cal. 45 pistol and engaged lawmen in a shootout.

Amat said the suspect had two murder cases filed at Lucena City Regional Trial Court Branch 56 and 59 for killing a certain Zoilo Obcemea at Brgy. Lita on May 1, 2013, and one Domingo Lustanes at Brgy. Alitao on June 13, 2017.

He said the suspect was listed as the city's most wanted man and 5th on the region's list of 10 most wanted felons.
