BATANGAS CITY - Challenge Labs, Technovation Summits, Design Thinking Workshops, Business Model Pitching Competitions—these are only some of the many programs at the Center for Technopreneurship & Innovation (CTI) that will complement and boost activities for emerging and established businesses at the newly-proclaimed Special Economic Zone in Batangas, the BatStateU Knowledge, Innovation and Science Technology (KIST) Park.
The gateway to the country’s pioneer IT Park, CTI is Batangas State University’s homegrown Technology Business Incubator, headed by Engr. Albertson Amante, who is also the University Vice President for Research, Development, and Extension Services. Engr. Amante is one of five professors in the country trained at the University of California, Berkeley on technopreneurship in 2015.
Annually with over 2,000 students in technopreneurship and innovation under its wing, CTI is an environment for jumpstarting ideas and skills that are relevant to today’s fast-changing global economy. Established in 2014, the center is soon to be housed at the BatState KIST Park’s first building, the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Environment Research Hub (STEER Hub). Offering support services on startup incubation, patent services, and product development, the BatStateU KIST Park will officially launch on July 20, 2020, via the Zoom app with a live stream on Facebook.
Batangas State University is a Level IV state university in the CALABARZON region, and the only SUC in the country accredited by the US Accrediting Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) for its Engineering and Information Technology programs. It is rated 3 stars in the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) list of top universities. (PIA-Batangas/BatStateU KIST Park)
