BATANGAS CITY - A milestone in the history of Batangas State University (BatStateU) in Batangas City was set in the midst of the COVID 19 pandemic, and that is the virtual launch of its Knowledge, Innovation, Science and Technology (KIST) Park as a special economic zone on Monday, July 20, 2020.

This BatStateU achievement, which was the country's first, was achieved by Proclamation No. 947 signed on May 22, 2020, by President Rodrigo Duterte. It is also on the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) recommendation.





To have a special economic zone means a lot of work, infrastructure, technology plunging, and other development aspects

This KIST Park located in Alangilan Barangay has an area of around 2,700 square meters.





A message from BatStateU Pres. Tirso Ronquillo thanked all those who participated in the program, including the Batangas State University production team, President Rodrigo Duterte DTI, Philippine Economic Zone Authority, Mayor Beverley Rose Dimacuha, Cong. Marvey Mariño, Dr. Jun Bereberabe, City Council, City Planning and Development Office, PALAFOX, and others.

Granted to BGen. Charito Plaza of PEZA is an EZ 20-07 KIST Park Registration Certificate.





In Sec's keynote speech. Ramon Lopez of the DTI said that KIST Park would do much to help meet the needs of the industries. He also said his office is always ready to help develop any kind of innovation. It also urged the State Universities and Colleges or SUCs to follow this step of the BatStateU.

Sec. Fortunato de la Pena of the Department of Science and Technology will serve as a strong link between industry and academe.

Atty. McJill Bryant Fernandez of the Office of the President, Malacanang, Mayor Beverley Rose Dimacuha, Gov. Hermilando Mandanas, Dr. J Prospero de Vera III, Chairperson of the Commission on Higher Education, Dr. Danilo Lachica, President of Semi-Conductor and Electronics Industries in the Phil., And Mr. Rey Untal, Pres. and CEO of Business Process Association of the Phil also give message and greetings.

It is estimated that after five years, the said KIST Park will be full development and is expected to bring further growth and progress not only in the city but also in the region.
