Today, July 23, 2020, marks the 156th anniversary of the birth of the revolutionary thinker and the legal mind behind the First Republic of the Philippines, Apolinario Mabini, and the country joins in his commemoration.
It's a special non-working public holiday for the town of Batangas. On July 16, 2020, a week before the non-working public holiday, the local government of Batangas, Mr. Hermilando I. Mandanas, signed a declaration for the commemoration of the Mabini Day.
The advisory states that "Under Proclamation No. 2367, dated July 23, 1984, July 23, 1984, and every year thereafter," Mabini Day, "a special non-working public holiday, has been proclaimed in the province of Batangas and its cities.
During this day, the National Historical Commission of the Philippines also entered the nation commemorating the 156th anniversary of the birth of Apolinario Mabini. Ceremonies were arranged in various museums, such as the Apolinario Mabini Shrine in Tanauan, Batangas (Museo ni Apolinario Mabini Tanauan), and his Pandacan house at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines – Manila (Museo ni Apolinario Mabini – PUP).
Not only museums, but numerous towns and cities have joined the country in commemorating the 156th anniversary of the birth of Apolinario Mabini. People remembered him in different ways, particularly his brilliant mind in writing political issues.
Commemorations like this should not be set aside; it should be remembered by people, particularly the Filipinos, who should know what great personalities, more heroes, have done to us and to the country.
