SAN ANDRES, Quezon - Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) Sec. John Castriciones along with Bondoc Peninsula Rep. Aleta Suarez led the distribution of Certificate of Land Ownership Award (CLOA) to 352 farmer-beneficiaries in a simple ceremony held at Camflora Training Center, this town recently.

The land, a total of 747.59 hectares and divided into 398 lots is under the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP).

Located in the village of Tala and Camflora, the properties are registered to owners Sto. Domingo Shipping Lines, couple Domingo Reyes and Lourdes Abustan and Viva Shipping Lines Inc.

"The first decades of the CARP implementation, the vast holdings have been subjected to a hotly-contested agrarian reform program implementation; not surprisingly, the mode of acquisition is compulsory acquisition," Castriciones said

Sec. Castriciones and Rep. Suarez have also instructed the farmer-beneficiaries to develop their newly-acquired land. The two government officials ensured the beneficiaries that the national government will provide appropriate assistance in the developent of the farm.

The said two officials along with San Andres Mayor Giovanni Lim pleaded to the farmers beneficiaries not to sell or pawn the land awarded to them.

Aside from the CLOA distribution, part of the program was the handing over of agricultural inputs to the farmers. (Ruel Orinday-PIA-Quezon/ with reports from Quezon PIO)
