Our Government is divided into three co-equal bodies, the Executive, headed by the President and his Secretaries, the Judiciary, headed by the Chief Magistrate and the Legislative, divided into two, the upper house headed by the Senate President and the lower house headed by the House Speaker. However, as of today, it seems that these three co-equal bodies are run and run by one person. It is a bloody political power, the policies that are being enforced are untimely. Hello? We are in the middle of a pandemic, and every day the cases of COVID 19 continue to increase.
Policies such as the Anti-Terrorism Act of 2020, recently passed as a law by the President, are properly approved as urgent by the legislative body. The Human Rights Commission warned that it could restrict significant freedom and concerns are also on the increase as the administration is cracking down on political dissent.
The law has a broad definition of terrorism and has revised the 2007 Security Act. In fact, even though the President will not sign it and lapses within 30 days of issuance, it will be signed into law. Okay, that's the legislative process.
Next, there are the one-sided 9-agreement loans from China that have recently been made public by the Department of Finance ( DOF) and, if we look closely at the waivers, confidentiality, and arbitration, it seems that we are selling our country, just an opinion though. Yeah, we agree that the loans will be used in the fight against the deadly pandemic and the economy.
Let us not forget, however, that China is claiming territories in our native country. Ok, what if? If these loans were not paid out, they would have the right to claim our land even if the ICC arbitration had sided with us, we would still be strangled. Were we going to have a choice if China asks for the territories? We don't know the answer yet, but it's just time to say.
In addition, the order to shutter one of the largest networks in the Philippines, ABS-CBN and all its affiliated companies such as Sky Direct. Citizens who have already lost their jobs in the pandemic, can we contribute to the unemployment rate? Can we wait until the pandemic is over? Yes, the big media giant may have violated the law, but we can delay it for humanitarian purposes. Note, Speaker Allan Peter Cayetano demanded that the network be opened temporarily out of sympathy, but was not accepted.
To add to the unfortunate situation, Spokesperson Harry Roque congratulated our country on beating the UP forecasts on the backlog of COVID-19 events. Is there going to be a need for bragging? Yes, our goal is to have fewer backlogs, but we need to work together to battle this pandemic and not to sound like we're in a war.
There would be a lot less fear if there was anything to hang on to, most of all, our government members. And, to be honest, timetables for change have been provided, but who is in charge? And we're not talking about relief because we're already in the "New Normal"
We are very thankful that the government is doing its job, as well as the efforts of people, frontlines and businesses to help. But please, please! In this time of crisis, may we ask to stop making needless decisions and regulations that could further complicate our situation? It's not to discredit the government's efforts, as they're doing their job, we 're just sharing our side, and at the end of the day, it's nice that there's something or anyone we can hang on to.
