LUCENA CITY - A crew member of a fishing vessel owned by a Quezon mayor died after he was shot in a drinking session while the boat was ducked off shore in Brgy. Dalahican, here, Wednesday.
City police chief, Lt. Col. Romulo Albacea said Christopher Revelleza, 43, crew member of DADDS 11 Fishing Vessel owned by Pitogo Mayor Paulino Sayat was already lifeless due to fatal gunshot wounds when the responding policemen arrived.
Albacea said the suspect, vessel captain
Paulito Moniño, 33, peacefully gave himself up to policemen led by his deputy, Major Marcelito Platino at around 9:00 p.m.
Quoting his investigators, Albacea said the suspect and the victim engaged in a confrontation while having drinking spree together with other boat crew members at around 6:00 p.m.
At the height of confrontation, he said the suspect pulled a cal. 9mm pistol and shot the victim several times killing him instantly.
After committing the crime, Albacea said the suspect allegedly threw the pistol into the sea.
Members of Quezon Provincial Crime Laboratory Office led by Major Dickson Mercado processed the crime scene.
Vessel Owner, Pitogo, Quezon Mayor Paulino Sayat who reported the incident to the police had no idea as to what triggered the suspect to shoot the victim.
The vessel operates along the stretch of Tayabas Bay.
