TRECE MARTIRES CITY, Cavite - A total of 8,140 individuals benefited from the provincial government's initiative Botika on Wheels with its initial roll-out in several barangays in nearby towns of Maragondon, Naic and Cavite City.
The project aimed to help the vulnerable group of senior citizens who are not allowed to leave their houses during this time of COVID-19 pandemic, the mobile drug store will visit all the barangays in the entire province to provide easy access to the essential medicines they needed.
With its first roll-out on June 5-11, 2020, 27 barangays in the municipality of Maragondon with a total of 2,260 senior citizens were given free maintenance drugs as well as vitamins to help boost their immune system.
Likewise, on June 16-23, 2020 about 4,364 elderlies of Cavite City availed of the free maintenance medicines and vitamins from the Botika on Wheels while 1,516 senior citizens of the municipality of Naic were thankful to receive their prescribed medicines for free from the mobile drug store as it rolled in their town on June 25 & 26, 2020.
Thru the coordination of the local government chiefs, Mayor Reynaldo Rilo of Maragondon, Mayor Junio Dualan of Naic and Mayor Bernardo Paredes of Cavite City and the healthcare officers of the provincial, municipal and city health offices as well as the barangay captains the had been well organized with strict implementation of the health protocols of mandatory wearing of masks and physical distancing.
