Marvin R. Patena, Agriculturist I and APCO-Quezon HVCDP-based staff said the distribution activity is part of the ongoing implementation of DA CALABARZON 's agricultural support for high-value crop farmers under its regular CY 2020 fund. He also added that the multi-tiller system is being used primarily at the tilling or cultivation stage for the preparation of agricultural land. This form of mechanization would save time for farmers and increased additional labor costs.
"Ang naipamahagi ng DA CALABARZON na multi-tiller sa aming samahan ay napakalaking tulong upang mapadali ang mga gawain sa aming taniman”. Marites S. Laydia, Farmer-Treasurer of the association, shared her gratitude to DA CALABARZON.
The Punla ng Cabatang Farmers' Association is a local farmers' group in Tiaong, Quezon with 32 active members who own two cow heads acquired from their own funds. Since May 2011, the group has been producing vegetable crops such as eggplant, cassava, cucumber, sitaw, okra, ampalaya, and siling pula to supply local markets and generate income that would support their farming and family needs.
On 3 July 2020, DA-CALABARZON distributed 6,360 livestock intervention heads to farmers affected by the Taal volcanic eruption in the Municipalities of Balete, Bauan, Mataas na Kahoy and Agoncillo in Batangas. This program is part of the Taal Recovery and Rehabilitation Program implemented by the Department of Agriculture Region IV-CALABARZON.

Assistant Regional Director for Research and Regulatory and Livestock Program Coordinator Ms. Vilma M. Dimaculangan and her team facilitated the simultaneous distribution of livestock interventions in the said municipalities and stated that "DA CALABARZON will continue to provide agricultural support not only to Taal-affected farmers but also to all farmers in the region as much as the available programs can”.
Department of Agriculture (DA) Region IV-CALABARZON included the San Luis Farmers' Association among selected farmer groups to participate in SARI technology pilot tests in the region. SARI technology is described as 'cohesive technology that captures farm-to-market supply of agricultural products; a system that analyzes farmers' ability to produce and enables traders to access seamless information.
It provides an integrated dispatch and intelligence system to navigate the location data of the nearest goods transport trucks." It is also an online e-commerce platform system primarily designed to establish links between farmers and traders, consumers through seamless information generated by the monitoring of farm-to-market supplies and the analysis of farmers' ability to produce. In addition, the platform has also been developed to access the position data of the nearest trucks for the transport of goods through an integrated dispatch system.
"It is a privilege to be chosen as one of the first farmers' groups in CALABARZON to venture into the use of SARI technology, realizing that it offers an additional, open opportunity for farmers to market their produce," said Municipal Farmer Rinkoh Hernandez. He also stated that the weather forecast feature of the technology is beneficial to farmers and local government as it does to local farmers.
The President of the San Luis Farmers' Association, Mr. Roberto Cuasay, expressed high expectations of the pilot test. "This effort is a humbling opportunity for us to learn new and creative ways of selling our farm products to consumers," an interview was conducted on July 3,2020 in San Luis, Batangas.
