Association of Barangay Captains (ABC)-Quezon president Ireneo "Boyong" Boongaling lauded Quezon Rep. Angelina "Helen" Tan.

CANDELARIA, QUEZON - Association of Barangay Captains (ABC)-Quezon president Ireneo "Boyong" Boongaling lauded Quezon Rep. Angelina "Helen" Tan for providing free anti-flu and anti- pneumonia vaccines to market vendors, tricycle drivers, senior citizens and employees of the municipal government on Friday, July 17, 2020.

Boongaling, an ex-officio member of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan assisted the female solon at the municipal public market together with Mayor Macario "Macky" Boongaling, Vice- Mayor George Suayan and members of the Sangguniang Bayan.

He said more than 2,000 people, mostly poor, benefited from the free vaccines given by Rep.Tan, a doctor by profession who chairs the committee on health in the House of Representatives.

"Lubos kaming nagpapasalamat kay Dra. Helen dahil napaunlakan niya ang aming request na mapagkalooban kami ng libreng bakuna na napakalahalaga lalo na ngayong panahon ng pandemya",said Boongaling.

The Department of Health through Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire has recommended the use of anti-flu and pneumonia vaccines to prevent additional complications from the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

Vergeire made the recommendation on Thursday after she was asked by reporters if being vaccinated against flu and pneumonia will help in preventing complications from COVID-19.

"We agree with that. It can help you so that you will not have additional complications if you have COVID-19. We do not advise against vaccination against flu and pneumonia. In fact, we even recommend it because we have that program as well for children and for the elderly,” Vergeire said.

Besides the free vaccine, Dra. Helen also provided all Barangays in Candelaria, Quezon, with the main medicine library for health centers.

Prior to this, consumers, vendors, tricycle drivers, the local market and employees of LGU Candelaria will also receive a free anti-flu vaccine from Serbisyong Tunay At Natural.

BalikaTAN continues to provide free Anti-Flu Vaccine and Anti Pneumonia Vaccines to frontliners, market vendors, tricycle drivers, senior citizens, and people who are exposed and there are other underlying health conditions for the Health of Natural and Natural Services Department of Health and RAKKK Hospital.

Just like the previous ones giving free vaccines, the recipients of Calauag Town, Quezon, are still reminded to wear face masks, to always wash their hands and social distance.
