CALAMBA, Laguna - I'm sorry. But the dismissal is not yet actually final... This was the brief statement by Ann Sheila Montes Belarmino's lawyer, Atty. Joel Huertas, after the Sentinel Times, asked for a statement on the release of Belarmino on July 9, 2020, who is said to have been one of the six suspects in the brutal killing of Jang Lucero.

Many netizens were happy at the dismissal of the Belarmino case, and Omar De Leon was one of them.

De Leon thanked the people who believed that Belarmino was innocent.

He said in his Facebook post, "Pinakamabisa talaga ang panalangin. Hindi tayo nagkamali sa pagkakakilala kay Ann Shiela Belarmino na hindi nya kayang gawin yung mga ibinibintang sakanya at isa lamang syang biktima. We’re now all waiting for the true justice for Jang Lucero and her family. The truth will always prevail."

It will be recalled that the witnesses had previously identified Belarmino as one of the three passengers of the 34-year-old victim seen in the CCTV footage obtained before the crime on the night of June 28, according to an interview with the PNP.

But in Belarmino 's statement, it is possible that the real suspect only imitated her tattoo on the back.

“Hindi po ako ‘yong nasa video. Puwedeng katulad lang ng buhok ko or ginaya ‘yong tattoo ko dahil noong time na ‘yon ay wala ako doon at nakikipag-inuman ako sa ibang lugar,” Belarmino said.

According to the GMA News report, Belarmino is the current partner of Lucero's ex-girlfriend.

"Si Anne ay allegedly may konting selos sa biktima. Siya mismo yung sumakay sa saksakyan ng biktima and napaka-importante na na-identify siya dahil siya mismo yung Kasama nung mga sumaksak sa biktima, ” a police official told GMA news.

The Calamba, Laguna prosecutor has ordered the police to release the female suspect in the murder of female driver Jang Lucero who was stabbed by 52 times on June 28, 2020.

The prosecutor said that the police had provided evidence against Belarmino, which was lacking.

But the prosecutor is not convinced by police evidence to continue filing a murder complaint in court against Belarmino.

According to GMA News report, even before she was released, Belarmino showed her hands to prove that she had no injuries that could have caused the crime.

"Sana makonsensiya yung sumet-up [set-up] sa 'kin dito," she said.

On the other hand, not everyone is convinced that the 20-year-old suspect can hatch such a plot.

“Please pakitulungan po, may kababalaghang nangyayari dito pati sa mga investigation,” a Facebook user said.

Another advised Belarmino, “Sana kung hindi ikaw ang totoong pumatay, ikanta mo nalang ‘yung mga totoong nasa likod ng karahasan na yan. Sana kung biktima kalang din, maging matapang ka sana sa paglalahad ng katotohanan.”

The police will continue to gather additional evidence against Belarmino and her accomplices, such as forensic and technical evidence.

The provincial government of Laguna is still confident that the police will solve the crime and bring justice to Lucero.
