BAY, Laguna – “The laboratory that we inaugurate today in Los Baños opens the doors toward a precise technology for early diagnosis, timely treatment, and improved chances of recovery against this dreaded disease.”
These are the words of Communications Secretary Martin Andanar as he delivered his message during the inaugural program of the UP Los Baños COVID-19 Molecular Diagnostic Laboratory (UPLB CMDL) last July 10.
He said that the Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) pandemic may have brought scientists and doctors into a highly complex and challenging threshold but it has also opened an opportunity to gather the best and finest minds to work towards defending human lives.
“Our contemporary chronicles will record this pandemic period as a historic gathering of the best and the finest minds of our country's epidemiologists and other inter-related medical disciplines to battle a disease that threatens the existence of humanity,” he pronounced.
The Secretary then expressed support to UPLB by assuring that they integrate the university’s cause to utilize their science and research expertise in the country’s fight against COVID-19 to the mandates and initiatives of the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO).
“From our desk at the central office to the far reaches of our national and international information network, we carry your crusade with pride extensively disseminating your data and new discoveries, explaining, relating, and encouraging our people to heal as one.” (Joy Gabrido/PIA4A)
