YES to RANDY: to ensure learning of Alfonseño school children
YES to RANDY (Reading Advocacy for Nurturing & Developing Youth)

ALFONSO, Cavite - The municipal government here thru the Department of Education (DepEd) - Alfonso recently launched the learning program YES to RANDY (Reading Advocacy for Nurturing & Developing Youth).

The project with the acronym of the first name of Alfonso Mayor Randy Salamat is one of the umbrella programs of Project SPARKS in the Division of Cavite under the law "No Child is Left Behind Act" of 2010 and Region IV-A 3Bs - Bawat Bata Bumabasa and Bawat Alfonseño Bumabasa.

It is primarily aimed at developing students' reading and reading skills and facilitate learning to 47 non-readers and 282 struggling readers from Grade 1 - 10 with data taken last March 2020.

With the face-to-face learning mode strictly not allowed due to the risk of infection from COVID-19, the project YES to RANDY will promote the use of mobile libraries, utilization of modules, television and audiovisual discs and other visual aids in education; internet and other facilities that will enhance learning and acquisition of knowledge.

"The tie-up with Converge Telco to give 100mbps for free in boosting the internet connection in every barangay will surely make learning accessible to all," said Mayor Salamat during the meeting held June 19, 2020 with the Public Schools District supervisors and the RANDY'S Advocate officers.

The mayor expressed his appreciation for the huge efforts given by the district supervisors, RANDY'S Advocate Reading Coordinators Association, Alfonso School Heads, reading teachers, and parents to make this project possible.
