During 300 mangrove saplings, planted along the coast of San Juan |
BATANGAS CITY - Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) - Lipa staff planted about 300 different types of mangroves in the barangays of Pinagbayanan and Catmon in San Juan town on July 29.
The activity is part of the celebration of International Day for the Conservation of Mangrove which aims to spread and expand knowledge on the importance of mangrove forests or mangroves that balance the country's diverse ecosystem.
CENRO Lipa staff led by OIC Januel Peras and Senior Environment Management Specialist Josefa Lozada came together in collaboration with the San Juan local government and the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO), Brgy. Pinagbayanan and Catmon and members of the Coast Guard.
Despite undergoing the Modified General Community Quarantine in the said town, CENRO ensured that minimum health protocols such as wearing a face mask and social distancing were carried out during the activity. (with a report from CENRO Lipa)
