PAGBILAO, Quezon - Joint police units arrested a businessman following the confiscation assorted unlicensed firearms during a searh operation at his farm in Brgy. Mayhay, here, Friday.
Quezon police director Col. Audie Madrideo identified the suspect as Rommel Ayala Razol @Omie/Omeng, 44, farm owner at said village.
Armed with a search warrant issued by Sta. Cruz, Laguna Regional Trial Court, Branch 27 Judge Cynthia Ricablanca, Madrideo said the search operation was carried out by joint elements of Provincial Intelligence Branch under Major Gaylor Pagala, 1st Quezon Provincial Mobile Force Company under Lt. Col. Norman Rañon and Pagbilao police station under Major Reden Romasanta.
In a phone interview, Romasanta said the suspect yielded an Armscor 12 gauge shotgun, 4 improvised cal. 22 rifles, a home-made shotgun, 2 cal. 45 pistols, a hand grenade, and a number of assorted ammunition.
He said the operation was witnessed by village officials.
Romasanta said the suspect claimed that the firearms were sold to him by friends saying that his caretakers use the guns to protect the farm against bad elements.
The suspect was detained at the custodial facility of Pagbilao Municipal Police Station while criminal complaint for Violation of RA 9516 and RA 10591 are being prepared for filing against him before the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office.
