The local government of Los Baños and the Office of the Public Farmer, through BFAR PFO-Laguna, distributed more than 35.000 tilapia fingerlings to local fishermen. (Photo from Los Baños LGU) |
CALAMBA CITY, Laguna - About 35,000 tilapia fingerlings were distributed by the municipal government of Los Baños to local fishermen through the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Provincial Fisheries Office - Laguna (BFAR PFO - Laguna).
Based on a statement from the official Facebook page of the local government of Los Baños, the said distribution of tilapia fingerlings was carried out by BFAR PFO - Laguna and was led by Mayor Caesar P. Perez and the Office of the Public Farmer.
In conjunction with the said distribution of tilapia fingerlings, BFAR PFO-Laguna also provided the Los Baños local government with an Aquaponics device to be used in the demonstration area of the town.
The program they have implemented is part of the Department of Agriculture's "Ahon Lahat, Pagkaing Sapat (ALPAS) Program" which aims to strengthen the farming and fishing sector in our country amid the current pandemic caused by COVID-19.
