ANTIPOLO CITY, Rizal - The Office of Civil Defense Calabarzon and the Regional Task Force Against COVID-19 spearheaded an Orientation on Local Zoning Containment Strategies for line government agencies and local government units.
The online orientation led by Department of the Interior and Local Government resource speaker Robin Lim was conducted via Zoom and aired on the OCD IV-A Official Facebook Page on August 6 focused on the technical aspects of zoning which may be implemented on a local level by both LGUs and NGAs.
During the orientation proper, participants were familiarized with the general concept of the Zoning Containment Strategy which can be used to efficiently implement the Prevent, Detect, Isolate, Treat and Reintegrate (PDITR) Strategy.
The orientation describes a Critical Zone as an area where the initial number of cases or several clustering cases have been identified for seven days; Containment Zones are areas without news cases but adjacent to the Critical Zone; Buffer zones are places with no cases but adjacent to the Containment Zone and; the Areas Outside the Buffer Zone are all other areas not classified as a Critical, Containment or Buffer Zone.
"Rolling stages" of zoning implementation were also discussed wherein implementation depends on the type of quarantine in a specified zone.
During the latter part of the program, LGU and NGA representatives also shared insights on current zoning strategies implemented by their offices through an online open forum. (PIA4A)
