ANTIPOLO CITY - Governor Rebecca "Nini" Ynares of Rizal is currently under mandatory quarantine.

It was first formally announced on August 16, 2020, by Ynares that she will undergo mandatory quarantine.





This follows Ynare's direct exposure to Secretary Eduardo Año of the Department of the Interior and Local Government ( DILG), who first tested positive for coronavirus disease in 2019 (COVID-19).

She and Secretary Año were together for several hours, according to Ynares, when members of the Inter-Agency Task Force and the National Task Force visited Rizal Province.





Ynares added that although the participants wore face masks and face shields and complied with physical distances, they would undergo mandatory quarantine in compliance with the DOH protocol to prevent the spread of the disease.

Other people who have met Año and Ynares at the event are also advised to join 14-day quarantine and consult when experiencing symptoms.





Pililia Mayor tests positive for COVID-19

Pililla, Rizal Mayor Dan Masinsin tested positive for COVID-19 on August 17, 2020.

On August 18, 2020, Mayor Dan's son, John Masinsin, confirmed in a Facebook post that his father was admitted to a private hospital after receiving the COVID-19 test results on August 17, 2020, in a swab mayoral test on August 15, 2020.

"Okay naman po siya ngayon, naka admit na po siya sa isang pribadong ospital at nasa maayos na kalagayan at stable ang condition." John said.

Other family members have been swab testing and are now in the 14-day quarantine for home.

Mayor and Vice Mayor of San Mateo Rizal tests positive for COVID-19

Meanwhile, San Mateo, Rizal province's couple Mayor and Vice Mayor have tested positive for COVID-19 disease.

According to Vice Mayor Paeng Diaz's Facebook post, on August 18, he and his wife, Mayor Tina Diaz, underwent an RT-PCR test, and on August 20 the result was that both were positive for the disease.

He added that the couple experiences only mild symptoms, and will be isolated.

Municipal administrator Ricardo R. Gomez will serve as a signatory to all official transactions in the town until the couple recovers.

It is said that the couple Mayor and Vice Mayor will continue to serve and focus on all their efforts to confront the challenge of COVID-19 in the town of San Mateo and other duties in the name of the people's welfare.

Authorities are tracing contacts to find out who the mayor met.
