LUCENA CITY - The police station of Gen. Luna, Quezon was placed on lockdown on orders of its town mayor after a policeman was infected by coronavirus desease (COVID-19).

This was confirmed by Quezon police director, Colonel Audie Madrideo in a local television/ radio program hosted by Quezon Public Information Office (QPIO) chief Ma. Janet Buelo.

Madrideo hailed the decision of Mayor Matt Florido for showing respect and concern to the local police force under Captain Jun Balilo and for shouldering the laboratory expenses of their swab test samples.

"We have our own swab test kits but it takes almost two weeks to determine the results if the specimen will be examined at PNP Crime Laboratory or Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM).But Mayor Florido volunteered to have them examined in a private labaratory and vowed to shoulder the expenses in order not to prolong the lockdown", said Madrideo.

The police official said Florido is an example of good mayor and leader who is very much active and vigilant to assure the safety of his constituents.

Madrideo also reminded the mayors that they can always intensify their local guidelines and enforce strickter their local ordinances.

He said the mayors can place on lockdown those barangays with high cases of COVID-19.

As of 12:00 noon. ,Tuesday, Buelo said Quezon has 413 confirmed COVID -19 cases, 215 recoveries, 17 deaths, and 181 active cases.
