BATANGAS CITY - The first model clinic in the country, Ibaan Medical Clinic (IMC) in Barangay Talaibon was formally blessed and opened on July 23.

According to Dr. Eduardo Janairo, Regional Director of the Department of Health Center for Health Development (DOH CHD) Calabarzon, this is the first in the whole country and can be considered a higher form of medical administration compared to a regular rural health unit.

Apart from the aforementioned health services, specialization services are also scheduled to be provided to the heart, lungs, and kidneys as well as other special health services needed so that patients do not have to go elsewhere for treatment.

The medical clinic has a three-bed capacity with medical equipment from DOH CHD Calabarzon. It will also serve as a semi-emergency medical clinic.

The facility was first funded by DOH CHD Calabarzon, including the salaries of doctors and nurses here and once the law for it has been passed, the DOH and the Ibaan local government will share the funds of the clinic.

Janairo stressed that primary health care facilities need to be reorganized to better serve people and meet their health needs.

Ibaan Medical clinic will provide free check-ups and distribute multi-vitamins and ascorbic acid during the first three days of operation.

According to Ibaan Mayor Joy Salvame, health is a lifelong service that people need.
