UPLB CMDL aims to double its testing target per day
The University of the Philippines Los Banos COVID-19 Molecular Diagnostic Laboratory (UPLB CMDL) is aiming to double its target number of testing per day through employing two shifts, Dr. Genaleen Diaz, Head of UPLB CMDL, said during the recent Laging Handa Network Briefing hosted by Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Sec. Martin Andanar.

BAY, Laguna – The University of the Philippines Los Banos COVID-19 Molecular Diagnostic Laboratory (UPLB CMDL) is aiming to double its target number of testing per day through employing two shifts.

Dr. Genaleen Diaz, Head of UPLB CMDL, said during the recent Laging Handa Network Briefing hosted by Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Sec. Martin Andanar that they are keen to increase their testing target that was initially 120 tests per day.

“Ang target po namin ay (Our target is) 120 per day if we have one shift, but now we started with a second shift so we can actually double that target,” Dr. Diaz explained.

Aside from doubling its target, the UPLB CMDL also strengthens its partnerships with various hospitals in the province of Laguna. They have forged Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with hospitals that are mostly from within Laguna especially those hospitals located within Los Banos and neighboring towns like Calamba City, Bay, Sta. Cruz and Binan City, as well as the City Health Offices of Calamba and Cabuyao.

“So far we serve the different communities around Los Banos or within Laguna,” she stated.

Moreover, Diaz said they are still open for partnerships with the private and government sector. Interested parties should express their intent for partnership to UPLB Vice Chancellor for Research and Extension Rex B. Demafelis and send their email to cmdl.uplb@up.edu.ph. They may also call the testing facility at 576-0960.

She said they shall readily reply to inquiries and requests for partnership and prepare the necessary document for the MOA. (Joy Gabrido/PIA4A)
