BATANGAS CITY -The Batangas Provincial Government and representatives of private medical technology companies are scheduled to hold a series of meetings in different districts in the province of Batangas to set up additional COVID-19 testing laboratories.
The move is the result of a meeting of the Batangas COVID-19 Inter-Agency Task Force, where Provincial Health Officer Rozvilinda Ozaeta was designated by Governor Hermilando Mandanas to lead talks to strengthen the province's testing and tracing capabilities.
According to the Governor, if we focus on enhancing its testing capabilities, it will be more successful to ensure public safety and avoid the spread of the virus.
Medical technology firms made a presentation at the Batangas IATF meeting on 14 September, announcing their ability to process a large number of specimens within 24 hours. The transaction fee is also less than P3,500.
Once fixed, the provincial government plans to place one of them in the Laurel District Hospital in Tanauan City as it is closer to large industrial zones targeted by mass testings such as the towns of Malvar, Lipa City, and Sto. Thomas.
“Nakahandang magbigay ang pamahalaang panlalawigan ng lugar para sa laboratory space at facilities pati na ang kakailanganing medical personnel at technician na siyang magsasagawa ng testing, specimen collection at laboratory procedures. Kaugnay nito dapat pa din nating sundin ang ipinatutupad ng ating pamahalaang nasyunal na health and safety protocols," Mandanas said.
