CALAMBA CITY - The Department of Agriculture (DA) Region IV-CALABARZON distributed 100 buffaloes and 100 cattle worth P7M to farmers from various towns in Batangas Province who were affected by the eruption of Taal Volcano in January.
The buffaloes and cattle were distributed by DA IV-CALABARZON under the Taal Recovery and Rehabilitation Program which aims to provide alternative employment to the said farmers and as part of the Department's continued support.
DA IV-CALABARZON gave 20 buffaloes worth P700,000 to farmers in Lipa City on September 7 while 32 farmers from Mabini received a single cow worth P1,120,000 on September 8.
The next day, September 9, DA IV-CALABARZON delivered about 80 buffaloes worth P2,800,000 to farmers in Laurel; about 30 farmers in Taal were given cattle each with a total amount of P1,050,00, and eight farmers in San Jose were given one cow each with a total value of P280,000.
Laurel Mayor Joan Lumbres-Amo was very grateful to DA IV-CALABARZON for her tireless support to the farmers affected by the eruption of Taal Volcano, especially during the pandemic.
Meanwhile, 30 farmers in Malvar were blessed with a single cow worth P1,050,000 on September 12.
Malvar Mayor Cristeta Reyes expressed his sincere gratitude for the assistance provided by DA IV-CALABARZON to the farmers in his hometown.
“Ang tulong na ito ay tiyak na pahahalagahan at pangangalagaan. Ang suportang ito mula sa DA IV-CALABARZON ay makakatulong sa mga magsasaka, sa kanilang pamilya at sa henerasyong darating pa,” Mayor Reyes said.
Distribution of aid was attended by Regional Director Arnel V. de Mesa; Assistant Regional Director for Operations and Rice Program Coordinator Mr. Dennis R. Arpia; at Assistant Regional Director for Research and Regulations, and Livestock Program Coordinator Ms. Vilma M. Dimaculangan.
