Pictures of thick smoke from several Maubanin Facebook accounts and video of the situation circulated online.


MAUBAN, Quezon - Residents of Mauban was alarmed of grass fire happened at Sitio Tura, Lual Barrio around 6 to 7pm, August 30, 2020.

 According to one of the residents who witnessed the spread of fire "Actually amoy usok na talaga which is akala namin may normal lang na nagpapausok, nagtaka na kami kasi ang dami ng nalaglag na abo"





Cause of fire was reportedly started with burning of garbage from a household. Unexpectedly spread-out near a dry lawn. Residents were quick to asked for help of Fire fighters.

The situation is handled and led by Bureau of Fire Protection-Mauban with the help of Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, Kabalikat Fire and Rescue, Concerned Citizen and Barangay Council of Lual Barrio and Soledad.





In a phone interview with SFO3 Edmond Poblete Deputy Fire Marshal and Chief Operation of BFP Mauban, based on investigation that conducted the fire is not intentional.

"Nagsiga lang talaga para sunugin ang mga basura pero dahil malakas ang hangin at ang katabi ay tuyong damo, gumapang yung apoy at doon na lumaki" he added.

Poblete also emphasized that it's not a cause of 'kaingin' or any illegal doings of their residents. The range of fire is approximately 350 square meters, it took 20 minutes to became under control and there are no records of any casualties.
