LUCENA CITY - Tomorrow, COVID-19 cases will double in Lucena and is expected to surpass the 838 marks since my Sep 22 posting when we have 419 COVID-19 cases. So, it's still not bad because the OCTA research group placed an average of 28 days doubling the time gap. Lucena has 29 days doubling time tomorrow, Oct. 21.
Lucena City is now ranked fourth place among high-risk cities for COVID-19 after registering an average of 24 COVID-19 cases per day and an 8% attack rate. Its hospital capacity, however, is already at 95%.
OCTA said that attention is needed in Lucena and Batangas City. The local government units (LGU) concerned need to further intensify their efforts at testing, tracing, and isolation to reverse the increase of transmissions at the community level.
“Moreover, they need to implement more aggressive and effective localized lockdowns with stricter border controls to suppress further viral transmissions,” OCTA added.
Note also that the doubling rate is faster in Tayabas, Sariaya, Pagbilao, Lucban, Lopez, and other 2nd class and 3rd class municipalities.
