The Quezon Balikbayanihan Service Caravan (QBC) was held for repatriated Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) of Lucena City where the activity was held at the Quezon Convention Center, Lucena City last Wednesday, September 14 led by the Provincial Government in collaboration with the Provincial Committee on Migration and Development (PCMD) and Provincial Gender and Development (PGAD).
It will be recalled that this program was first launched in Sariaya town in June on the initiative of the Provincial Government to address some of the support that can be provided to our provinces among the temporarily repatriated OFWs due to the impact of the pandemic caused by COVID-19.
Atty. Geoff Lyn San Augustin, the head of the PGAD office, shared some of the activities related to QBC that have been ongoing since the launch of this program as well as some of the services provided in collaboration with various agencies for to repatriated OFWs affected by the pandemic.
While in the message of Governor Province Danilo E. Suarez through zoom he conveyed the recognition of the new heroes of the modern-day OFWs. At the same time, he ensured that the Provincial Government is ready to extend support and programs to repatriated OFWs here in our Province.
In connection with this activity, a free anti-flu vaccine was conducted for balikbayans and there was also a booth viewing service from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Public Employment Service Office (PESO), St. Jude Multipurpose Cooperative (SJMP), Seafarers Cooperative and CARE-MBA also discussed the issue of mental health and how to avoid stress and depression during the pandemic.
Meanwhile, the Provincial Government continues to respond and act on the services needed by our provinces now that we are experiencing a pandemic and crisis due to the threat of COVID-19.
