CANDELARIA, Quezon - On September 21, 2020, a Grade 12 student from the Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMSS) Tayabas Western Academy of Candelaria Quezon, named Hans Kasilag, contacted Governor Chiz Escudero for advice on how to be a lawyer.
A now-viral Facebook post from Philippine Jurisprudence Official shared the letter of Governor Chiz Escudero sent by Hans Kasilag.
“As a lawyer, you have the opportunity to give a voice to the voiceless, and stand up for those who are wronged.” the letter said.
Before sending a letter to Sorsogon Governor Chiz Escudero, Hans Kasilag first wrote to Attorney Chel Diokno on 1 September 2020, still seeking advice, and to his surprise, the human rights lawyer responded.
Attorney Chel Diokno replied to Hans on 9 September 2020 expressing his enthusiasm at Hans' determination to pursue the profession. "Let me say how happy I am to see that you're not just dreaming of becoming a lawyer-you're working towards our dream by learning more about the profession even this early."
Both Diokno and Escudero exchanged tips and inspirational messages to inspire the 17-year-old HUMSS student to continue his dream of becoming a lawyer soon, where Chiz Escudero concluded in his reply, "Good luck and looking forward to meeting Atty. Kasilag in the future.
