LUCENA CITY, Quezon – The month of September is a busy month for the Province of Quezon and despite the pandemic, the office thought of ways to celebrate this event also to promote the hidden gems that Quezon Province has.

This year might be a difficult time to promote tourism anywhere you go but it’s great to see how the nation can still come up with ideas on how to promote its tourist destinations.

In an online interview with Provincial Tourism Officer, Alberto Bay, he stated that “Tourism promotions at present demand more attention to details especially in terms of health safety of our tourists”. Even if they already started allowing some locals to visit the town and city’s tourist spots, they always make sure that everyone is following safety protocols like social distancing, use of face masks and face shields, and the limit of a stay at the place also travel pass for the outsiders.

Promotion goes digital. With the help of social media, the Quezon Province Tourism Office promoted their activities via Facebook and other social media platforms. These are the activities that they did to celebrate this year’s Quezon Tourism Month, AgriKULTURA Fair (2nd year) Greens, Herbs and Farm Tourism, and more in cooperation with the Office of the Provincial Agriculture held at SM City Lucena September 17-30; 3 Webinars - one for the Celebration of the Renaming of Tayabas to Quezon Province and 2 for Sustainable Tourism (titles of which can be found on our Facebook Page; Walk-Around Virtual Tours (Destinations Vlog) also to look for ambassadors thru online vlogging; New Normal Photo Contest to depict places and people and destinations in the new normal. Said, Bay.

The contests are coursed through our Municipal Tourism Offices for them to also screen their entries and also to allow participation from all 39 municipalities and 2 cities of our province. He added.

Bay also stated the reward for those who participated in the event. “We have cash prizes for winners and all participants will receive consolation prizes as well. By the way, entries from the municipalities were also required to come from the public, the meaning is not employees of the municipal government.”

The winners of the online contests that can be seen on their Facebook page, Tourism Quezon Province.

Though only a few municipalities were able to join, The officers were able to stir up attention to interesting places as submitted by the municipalities in videos and photos. “Not to mention that we also do have our shares of bashing and negative comments, but I believed it's all part of the process and learning for us too.” Said, Bay.
