LUCENA CITY - A driver with disability who accidentally bumped and killed an Army soldier finally gave himself up to police authorities.

Accompanied by his cousin and this writer, driver Jessie Asesor, 48, of Brgy. Mayao Crossing, here, surrendered himself yesterday to Quezon police director, Col. Audie Madrideo.

Acesor, with polio since birth told Madrideo that although what happened was an accident, he prefered to flee for fear of being hurt by responsing residents.

Quoting police records, Madrideo said the incident transpired at around 9:00 p.m. on October 3 along Maharlika Highway at Brgy. Lusacan in Tiaong, Quezon while Acesor was driving his passenger van on his way home to this city.

Madrideo said the van accidentally hit a crossing Yamaha Vega motorcycle driven by Army Corporal Arnel Ricamara, 41, assigned at the Army's 85th Infantry Battalion and resident of Brgy. San Roque, Catanauan, Quezon.

As a result, the soldier sustained head and body injuries and was rushed by residents to the hospital where he was declared dead on arrival by Dr. Charmaine Parado.

Bothered by his conscience, Ricamara finally decided to yield to Madrideo through the help of his cousin, former barangay Kagawad Val Hermedilla and this writer.
