CALAMBA CITY - About 60 fishermen in Rizal Province underwent orientation for building a fiberglass boat just recently.
Under the 'F / B Pagbabago: Bangka Mo, Gawa Mo' program of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) -CALABARZON, 40 fishermen from Jalajala and 20 from Baras attended the orientation to help set of small-scale fishermen to have their own boats primarily used for fishing.
The program also aims to prevent the felling of trees that make up the building of the boat.
Through orientation, beneficiary fishermen are prepared for the future flow of buildings or building boats. It is expected that they will be able to build 30 boats and distribute them to the beneficiaries of the program.
The orientation was led by Domingo L. Torres, Brian V. Sison, Juliet Sarah DU Talanay of the Provincial Fisheries Office-Rizal in collaboration with John Vincent De Mesa and Harby Jan Casido of Freshwater Demonstration Fish Farm (FDFF).
Guiller Ditao, Antonio Regidor, Marcos Paray, and Jhun Rey Dimayuga, technical staff of the BFAR Central Office will instruct and guide the construction or manufacture of boats made from Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic (FRP).
Despite the pandemic facing the country, BFAR-CALABARZON continues to promote and implement the 'F / B Pagbabago: Bangka Mo, Gawa Mo' program for small-scale fishermen.
In this regard, BFAR-CALABARZON has provided 10 fiberglass boats to about 20 registered fishermen in Bacoor City still under the 'F / B Pagbabago: Bangka Mo, Gawa Mo' program.
Measuring 25 feet, equipped with a machine and complete accessories, the boats have been built since September. 21, 2020 to Oct 2, 2020, at the Revilla Livelihood and Training Center in collaboration with the City Livelihood Office and City Agriculturist Office.
