BATANGAS CITY - As part of its ongoing public service, the local government of Alitagtag conducted the Exclusive Government Program (EGP) Series 2 which benefited the youth on October 21, 2020.

In EGP Series 2, 19 lucky youth, and one teacher were selected through a virtual online draw conducted. One student per barangay was selected from 19 barangays and a teacher from Alitagtag DepEd District was blessed with an Android tablet, Smart pocket wifi with SIM card, and load from Smart Communications Inc.
The local government received more than 16,000 entries using Mayor Edilberto Ponggos' official FB page where young people who want to join must put their name, address, and contact number in the comment.
According to Mayor Ponggos, the local government continues to provide the necessary services for the people even though the local government does not have much funding they are trying to meet the needs of everyone especially and face the pandemic caused by COVID-19.
“Katatapos lamang naming mamahagi ng tig-P500 bilang financial assistance sa lahat ng mga mag-aaral na umaabot sa 1,516 mula sa Alitagtag National High School at Alitagtag Senior High School. Ang mga ipinamahaging financial assistance ay mula sa mga surplus sa trainings at seminars ng munisipyo gayundin sa mga travelling expenses ng mga kawani,” Ponggos said.
The municipality added that the local government will continue to support the education sector in all its endeavors to learn and help the Alitagtagueño youth.
In the message of Dr. Myrtle Evardome, Schools Division Superintendent in Batangas province said the assistance and protection provided by the local government of Alitagtag in their jurisdiction cannot be discounted. It asked not to tire of responding and helping the needs of schools and students for a better future.
PIA Batangas Information Center Manager Mamerta De Castro was the guest of honor, emphasizing the continued efforts of the youth to learn and not stop studying no matter what hardships and trials they go through.
“Ang mga kabataang nagnanais na maging maganda ang buhay ay kailangang magpunyagi at malampasan ang anumang hamon, mahirap man ito upang patuloy na paunlarin ang sarili. Ang edukasyon ay isang kayamanang hindi mabibili o makukuha ng sinuman kaya’t dapat lahat ng kabataan ay huwag tumigil sa pagkatuto bagkus ay patuloy na mag-aral sa anumang posibleng paraan upang mas mapaganda ang kanilang kinabukasan,” De Castro said.
In the concluding message of Dr. Andrea Hernandez of Alitagtag DepEd District stressed that if everyone is united and united towards a good principle and dream of giving a good life to the youth, everyone should continue to unite and unite for the desired success. He is also very happy with the continued assistance of the local government because every need of their sector has an immediate response and solution.
Apart from 20 Android tablets, Smart pocket wifi, and SIM loaded, there are also 10 sacks of 25 kilos of rice each and an additional five-pocket wifis were distributed to participants in the virtual draw.
