BATANGAS CITY - The winner's announcement was made through a virtual ceremony on October 30. Batangas City is the entry of the Philippines Search for Most Love and Sustainable City in the World due to its being the national winner in the One Planet City Challenge (OPCC) of the WWF.

There are 54 cities from 26 countries participating in this year's We Love Cities campaign.

WLC is a public engagement platform that invites city residents to vote for their city, share what they love about it, and suggest ideas to make it even better.

It will be recalled that Mayor Beverley Rose Dimacuha sought the support of the Batanguenos by liking, sharing, and commenting on the #WeLoveBatangasCityPH post on the Palakat FB page, tweeter, and Instagram because he acknowledged their skill and influence on social media.

“ Over 1,170,000 votes were submitted in total. But ONE city received an extra-large dose of love from its citizens,” WWF said.

A testament to the cooperation and unity of the Batanguenos who can afford to work together to achieve any goal.

“The Mayor played an active role in the social media and the winner had an overwhelming facebook activity,” stressed Barbara Evaeus, Senior Manager Climate Communications of WWF Sweden.

He added that the campaign was successful despite the pandemic and it became a way for the people to have awareness and interest in the goal of making their respective cities sustainable.

Mayor Dimacuha and the City Environment and Natural Resources Office (ENRO), the WWF's lead agency in the contest, are very grateful for the contest with the help and support provided by the people of Batanguerno.
