CALAMBA CITY, Laguna - Keeping the public informed on government policies and programs is the crucial role that the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) plays in the COVID-19 pandemic.
Underscoring this role in the government’s post pandemic recovery plan, PIA Director General Ramon Cualoping III said the ‘Explain, Explain, Explain: Pagdalaw sa Laguna’ information campaign provides a platform for national and local government agencies to discuss their policies in helping communities and industries recover.
“Beyond informing all of you, we have to explain things [as well]. Because what good is a government policy if the people cannot understand it?” Cualoping said during the campaign's recent leg in Santa Cruz.
Together with key agencies such as the Department of Agriculture (DA), Department of Health (DOH), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), Department of Trade and Industry (DILG) and various local government units, PIA helped clarify the government’s post pandemic recovery plan.
“Napakaimportante na madiscuss ang mga programang ito dahil sa eight months na ito, dapat ay nasa recovery stage na tayo,” he said.
More than an information campaign, Cualoping said the Duterte administration also uses ‘Explain, Explain, Explain’ as a platform to designate cabinet members and help LGUs formulate policies for their recovery plans.
Aside from COVID-19, the government’s recovery plan includes helping regions prepare for other health crises that may arise within the next few months, such as polio.
