ANGONO, Rizal - Angono experienced light to moderate rains and strongest winds from 2:00 pm to dusk, but no major damage occurred, according to Angono MDRRMO head Engr. Arnold Piñon.
During the height of the typhoon, Mayor-Vice Gerry Calderon visited Brgy. Kalayaan to greet residents at the seafront, according to Eric Espiritu, the staff of the Office of the Vice-Mayor.
"Si Maeyor Jeri Mae Calderon naman ay nasa ibang lugar para alamin ang mga pangangailangan ng mga apektadong lugar," Eric said.
"Binisita rin ni Mayor Vice Calderon kasama si Konsehal Supay Unidad ang Lakeside Park gayundin ang mga residente malapit dito. Inalam nila ang sitwasyon at taas ng tubig dito," Eric added.
In the Facebook post, photos of Kagawad Cholo Reyes, assistant to Mayor Jeri Mae, show the mayor turning around, greeting, and encouraging residents to evacuate in Sitio Labasan and Creekside Constellation in Brgy. San Isidro; in Bagong Sibol and Happy Homes in Brgy. San Vicente; of evacuees in Brgy. Independence who attended Angono National High School; and in Brgy. Poblacion Ibaba. Mayor Jeri Mae was accompanied by captains and councilors in the said barangays.
According to Angono MDRRMO head Engr. Arnold Piñon, 53 families, or about 200 people initially evacuated as a precaution. They are from Brgy. Kalayaan, Poblacion Ibaba, San Vicente, and Mahabang Parang.
"Nagpalikas na tayo agad ng ilang mga pamilyang maaaring maapektuhan ang kanilang tahanan. Mas maagap, mas handa. Pinadalhan na rin agad ng mga makakain ang mga pamilyang nasa mga evacuation center. As of 7:00PM, may 198 families (preemptive evacuation) San Roque, Mahabang Parang, Kalayaan, San Vicente, at Poblacion Ibaba," Mayor Jeri Mae Calderon said in her official Facebook page.
"Sa utos po ni Mayor Jeri Mae Calderon, mabilis natin naipamahagi ang food packs sa 198 pamilya mula sa Brgy. Kalayaan, Mahabang Parang, Poblacion Ibaba, San Vicente, at San Roque. Maraming salamat po sa logistics," statement of Angono MSWD head Ma'am Luisita Vestra.
