IMUS CITY, Cavite – The Imus City Youth Affairs Office with the support of the local government planned a month-long activities for Imuseño youth in line with the National Children’s Month this November
The youth affairs office led by Ms. Dulce Bustamante highlight the importance of supporting the youth, 18 years and below especially in this time of the pandemic with the theme “Samasamang Itaguyod ang Karapatan ng Bata sa Gitna ng Pandemya” .
In an episode of the ELM FB Live, Mayor Emmanuel Maliksi stated that, “The country’s future leaders are the youth of today,” hence the LGU’s earnest support to the programs of the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) councils of the city.
The LGU’s notable initiatives include the Imus Youth Leadership Development Program (IYLDP) which aims to enhance leadership qualities of the youth leaders wherein present officers of the City Youth Affairs Office and leaders of the SK councils are trained to undertake the responsibilities and face the challenges inherent with the position.
Ms. Bustamante, also the Focal Person of the Local Council for the Protection of Children (LCPC), is a proud apprentice of said leadership trainings.
During her guesting on the ELM FB Live, Ms. Bustamante explained that the programs and capacity building seminars for the youth and other activities lined-up for the entire month of November are all virtual- that is adaptive to the New Normal.
She enumerated the programs and activities to be expected in the coming days such as the Outstanding Kabataan Awards 2020 wherein 20 exemplary youth excelling in different fields will be awarded; the Imus Social Media Fest, a virtual competition of talents (e.g. Tiktok); the Local State of the Children’s Report by Mayor Maliksi; the two-day Valorant: Royal Rampage Tournament; the E-musikapansanan Year 4 for the PWD youth; the Education Fair and; the 2nd Youth Leaders’ Summit.
The Youth Summit in particularly is not limited to the city's youth leaders but is also for all youth leaders nationwide.
Aside from the above-mentioned activities, Bustamante also mentioned that the leaders and members of the SK Councils have been active in the repacking of relief goods distributed to the residents during the quarantine period and also instrumental for the marketing of the native delicacies made by the Senior Citizens for the “Kakanindahan” program in partnership with the Young Entrepreneurs Services (YES) Cooperative.
