BATANGAS CITY - According to the report, the damage caused by typhoon Ulysses to agriculture and fisheries in the province of Batangas amounted to P15.7M.

This is what appeared in the Final Damage Report of the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPAG) recently where the damage to the agricultural sector reached more than P14.3M and P1.3M to the fisheries.

According to Engr. Pablito Balantac, has 392 farmers in the province affected by their 280.13 hectares of land with various crops such as rice, corn, vegetables, cassava, fruit-bearing trees and root crops.

This is what appeared in the Final Damage Report of the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPAG) recently where the damage to the agricultural sector reached more than P14.3M and P1.3M to the fisheries.

Among the aquafarm operators, 41 were severely affected and several fishing gears and boats were hit by the previous typhoon.

But compared to the damage caused by typhoon Quinta in October, it was smaller because it cost more than P1-billion, so it declared a State of Calamity in the province.

In this regard, Governor Hermilando Mandanas instructed OPAG to develop plans on how to respond quickly to the needs of the sectors that have been severely affected.
