BATANGAS CITY - About 1000 beneficiaries of the EBD scholarship program of the Batangas City government received their allowance at the Batangas City Convention Center, December 21.
They are among the total 3800 college scholars for the school year 2020-2021.
Mayor Beverley Rose Dimacuha assured that despite the pandemic, the local government will continue to support the education of Batangueño youth through the EBD scholarship program started by his father, former Mayor Eddie Dimacuha.
It will be recalled that MAC implemented the online application in compliance with health and safety protocols against COVID 19.
According to Arnold Babasa, in-charge of the city's scholarship program, recipients of the allowance are called by phone or sent a text message on their cell phone.
They aim to distribute the allowance before Christmas.
Those who do not make it to the distribution schedule can go to the City Treasurer's Office (CTO) by appointment to ensure physical distancing.
Scholars in junior and senior high schools with ATMs will receive their allowance before the end of the year while those who do not will be assigned to their respective barangays in January next year.
The allowance distribution is administered by the Mayor's Action Center (MAC) Scholarship Committee.
Health and safety protocols against COVID-19 are strictly enforced in such distribution.
