BATANGAS CITY - About 1,000 beneficiaries of the EBD scholarship program of the Batangas city government received their allowance at the Batangas City Convention Center on December 21.
They are among the total 3,800 college scholars for the school year 2020-2021.
Arnold Babasa, Officer-In-Charge of the city's scholarship program, said scholars are called by phone or sent a text message to ensure that their allowance is distributed before Christmas.
Scholars who are unable to attend the scheduled distribution day may travel to the City Treasurers Office by appointment to enforce physical distancing.
Scholars in junior and senior high school with ATMs will receive their allowance before the end of the year while those who do not will be assigned to their respective barangays in January 2021.
Mayor Beverley Rose Dimacuha assured that despite the pandemic, the local government will continue to support the education of Batangueño youth through the EBD scholarship program started by his father, former Mayor Eddie Dimacuha.
It will be recalled that MAC implemented the online application in compliance with health and safety protocols against COVID 19. (with report from PIO Batangas City)
