295 San Pablo City TUPAD beneficiaries receive pay out

SAN PABLO CITY, Laguna - About 295 beneficiaries of the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Displaced/Disadvantage (TUPAD) of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) in this city received their payout on December 29, 2020.

Lorie Gacosta of DOLE IV-A in coordination with the Public Employment Service Office (PESO)-San Pablo and the Barangay Affairs Office led the distribution of the pay-out held at the City Governance Bldg.



The TUPAD beneficiaries were residents of barangays San Marcos, Sto. Rosario, Sta. Maria, IV-C, V-A, V-B, VII-A, San Jose, Sta. Catalina, San Pedro, San Lucas II, VI-C, II-A and San Francisco.

Out of the 290 beneficiaries, 260 received P6,500 for the 16.25 working days of service rendered while 35 beneficiaries received P4,000 for the service rendered for 10 working days.



The temporary work for 10-16 days was the initiative of Laguna 3rd District Rep. Sol Aragones and San Pablo City Mayor Loreto Amante.

In September 2020, about 224 unemployed individuals in the city had been also provided with temporary employment under TUPAD.



According to DOLE website, TUPAD is a community-based package of assistance that provides emergency employment for displaced workers, underemployed and seasonal workers, for a minimum period of 10 days, but not to exceed a maximum of 30 days, depending on the nature of work to be performed.

This assistance supports social community projects, such as repair, maintenance, and/or improvement of common public facilities and infrastructure such as schools and health centers, debris clearing, de-clogging of canals, debris segregation and materials recovery, stockpiling and clearing.

In addition, economic community projects like repair, maintenance and/or rehabilitation of farm-to-market roads, bridges, post-harvest facilities, public markets and common service facilities such as production and display centers, fishports.

Also, agro-forestry community projects, such as tree planting, seedling preparation, and reforestation.

TUPAD is an emergency employment assistance offerred to workers displaced due to the implementation of the community quarantine last year as the government's precautionary measure against COVID-19. (CPG, PIA-4A with report from CIO San Pablo)
