ANTIPOLO CITY - Antipolo City, Rizal Mayor Andrea Bautista Ynares announced that the Antipolo City government has already purchased a P300-million COVID-19 vaccine.
According to the mayor's Facebook post, she said that the city is cooperating with the National Task Force Against COVID-19 and the Department of Health in purchasing the vaccine which is expected to come this year 2021.
The mayor added that due to the fear caused by the side effects of the Dengvaxia vaccine, she said the free COVID vaccination program for the people of Antipolo will be voluntary.
She said vulnerable sectors, including frontliners and senior citizens, will be given priority for the COVID-19 inoculation campaign.
Nieto said the city government decided to procure the COVID-19 vaccine to ensure the public health safety of the more than 300,000 residents of the city.
Though the city has reported a very low infection rate with only 119 active cases and 110 fatalities, Nieto said that the local government will launch a pro-active vaccination program for the city to achieve herd immunity.
