PAGBILAO, Quezon - A lawmaker received a prestigios award from Gawad Parangal 2020 for Outstanding Local Chief Executive of the Philippines on December 21.
Mayor Shierre Ann Portes-Palicpic of Pagbilao, Quezon, was awarded by Association of Local Social Welfare and Development Officers of the Philippines Inc. (ALSWDOPI) for her good leadership.
In September, Palicpic also received an award for Outstanding Mayor of the Philippines in the field of Social Services.
The lawmaker confirmed the said award on March 2, but it was postponed because of coronavirus disease (Covid-19).
The award was given by National Gawad Parangal Awardee.
In 2015, Palicpic also received the Most Outstanding Mayor Award given by Superbrand Marketing International.
Moreover, Palicpic, is a daugther of former Pagbilao, Mayor Romeo Portes who was shot in front of a family-owned building in Barangay Bukal in November.
After disembarking from a motorcycle being driven by his cohort, the gunman wearing a face mask, casually walked toward Portes, pulled a handgun from his pocket and shot the victim on his face at close range.
The incident was recorded by a closed-circuit television camera. Footage showed that the gunman and the driver of the motorcycle were circling the building prior to the attack.
Meanwhile, in 2018, Palicpic lauded the two families that donated private land for the construction of the new Bigo Talipan Road.
Palicpic said the new road will open new opportunities for the municipality.
She also said it will attract businessmen to invest in Pagbilao.
Palicpic explained Barangay Bigo is one of three areas eyed for the development of their economic potential.
