LUCENA CITY - The regional weekly newspaper The Sentinel Times in Quezon province and the Calabarzon region, marks its fourth year of public information service on December 22.
The Lucena City-based newspaper, and also covers other provinces in the region, was founded by its publisher/owner, Ma. Nimfa L. Estrellado.
Since then, and for four years now, it has relentlessly pursued its goal of developmental communication and asserted the people’s right to vital information and of a free press.
In its four years of existence, there were thorns all along the way, “there were ups and downs and mostly sacrifices, but thanks to the staff, the people behind the weekly publication, we have passed them all and still survives,” Estrellado said over the weekend.
“Thank you to all of you who support, patronize and join us our advocacies, maraming salamat po sa inyong lahat, at sana ay patuloy ninyo kaming suportahan,” she said.
Estrellado also added that, “We are so happy to be of service to our people by providing correct, true and timely news and information about almost every issue, event, and personality that affect our daily lives. Sana, nakakatulong din kami sa inyo sa anumang paraan. Maraming salamat po muli, sa inyong lahat sa Diyos na gumagabay sa atin. We will continue to uphold freedom of the press.”
The Sentinel Times is accredited by the Regional Trial Court (RTC) in Lucena City and is accepting legal/judicial and public notices for publication, as well as promotional and Ads placement on print and website.
The Sentinel is a stakeholder and its corporate social responsilibility, outreach program and campus journalism.
Earlier, the Sentinel received a gawad pagkilala from Tayabas Schools Division because of its news website and newspaper.
The educational service program of Sentinel Times and Tayabas Schools Division that “Campus Journalism” is to educate the students at Tayabas Schools Division in campus journalism.
