BATANGAS CITY - Police officers of the Batangas Provincial Police Office (BPPO) planted about 1,300 mangroves in the Lagadlarin Mangrove Forest in Barangay Lagadlarin in Lobo town on February 5.
The move is in support of BPPO in the PNP's core value of Environmentalism and in response to the statement of Chief PNP Gen. Debold Sinas to work with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) to protect the country's natural resources.
PCol said. Rex Arvin Malimban, BPPO Provincial Director said the police are grateful to the local government of Lobo for allowing them to carry out such an activity which can be considered a great help to protect not only the mangroves but also the lives of the people living near the area.
Prior to the planting of mangroves, a simple program was conducted featuring President Mafriel Dimaano, the so-called “Architect” of Lagadlarin Mangrove Forest.
Dimaano shared how it started, the organization and management of the 17-hectare mangrove forest located in their barangay was a success.
