SAN ANDRES, Quezon - On February 4, 2021, the representative of CENRO Catanauan again presented the Forest Land Use Plan (FLUP) made by the town of San Andres, Quezon, to the members of the Municipal Development Council of the Local Government headed by the MDC Chairman, Mayor Giovanne T. Lim.
This is consistent with local government policy, so that everyone knows about the plan before the Technical Working Group (TWG) signs the DENR statement and obtains the approval of the Municipal Development Council and is endorsed by Sangguniang Bayan for its adoption.
The presentations of the San Andres FLUP proposal also include the priority sub-watersheds and the specific activities and strategies set out in the 5-year work and financial plan of the said plan.
Meanwhile, DENR-CENRO Catanauan also led the clean-up of the coastal areas of Sitio Kaibayo, Barangay 1, Catanauan, Quezon, recently assisted by police, firefighters, a group of teachers from the Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation, Batang Sikap, officers, and residents of the said Barangay.
The said cleanup is a work under the Coastal and Marine Ecosystems Management Program (CMEMP) and also, it is anchored in the celebration of National Zero Waste Month this month of January 2021 with the theme "Bouncing Back from the Pandemic to a Greener and Healthier Environment "which aims to reduce non-perishable wastes such as plastics, bottles, and others that have the potential to land in our oceans.
More than 220 kilos of non-perishable materials were collected, while perishables such as branches, bamboo, and uproots were carefully buried in high and non-flooded areas.
Residents are also reminded not to dispose of the area and to continue to clean up our environment by simply separating the waste from the perishable and non-perishable.
