Cavite State University (CvSU)campuses are going paperless in their contact tracing efforts as part of their new normal.
The Cavite State University College of Arts and Trades (CCAT) Research and Extension Team has developed a mobile application to make in-campus contact tracing safer and more convenient.
Smartphone users can use the GoTrace app to help school administrators track employees and guests visiting the campus.
Visitors can use their smartphones that are connected to the internet to use the app.
It also needs a phone camera, web browser, and a QR code scanning application that can be downloaded for both Android and iOs users.
Those who do not have smartphones will be asked to fill out a paper-based Health Declaration Form at the gates and entrance of each building.
School officials assured visitors that WiFi modems with internet connections are deployed in health survey locations around the campus.
Government agencies, both in the national and local levels, are going digital to streamline their contact tracing efforts.
Peer reviewed journal, Sciencemag, suggests that digital contact tracing apps can help control the virus from spreading by identifying people who were exposed to the coronavirus and encourage them to voluntarily self-isolate.
As it is a digital platform, users will be notified if they have been exposed to a potential carrier of the virus, which gives them more time to get tested or receive treatment. (PB)
