A hauling truck worth P1.4 million was donated by the Department of Agriculture (DA) Region 4-CALABARZON, through the High Value Crops Development Program (HVCDP), to the Rizal Provincial Agriculture Office (OPA-Rizal) on the February 5, 2021 at the Department Office in Lipa City, Batangas.
“Mapapadali po ang pagpapadala namin ng mga ani at produkto sa merkado dahil sa hauling truck na ito, kaya maraming salamat po, DA,” Aldrin Albos said, Provincial Coordinator ng HVCDP, who represents OPA-Rizal to receive the vehicle.
According to Mr. Albos, about 14 groups of farmers who are members of the Association of Vegetable Industries (SIPAG) in the province will be helped to make more money due to having a hauling truck. They are also participating in the Department of Agriculture and Income and Guarantee of the Ministry of Agriculture.
Each week, SIPAG-Rizal supplies about 1.2 tons of eggplant, 300 kilos of beans, squash, and other vegetables to Organic Options, a marketing and distribution company.
“Noong nakaraang taon po ay kumita ang ating mga magsasaka ng P500K nang dahil sa pagsusuplay sa Organic Options na nagdadala naman ng ating mga ani at produkto sa mga malls sa Metro Manila,” G. Albos added.
The Department has also previously provided some production inputs such as seeds and multi-tillers to OPA-Rizal for continuous vegetable production at its technology demonstration farm. (DA-RFO IVA, RAFIS)
