GEN. TRIAS, Cavite - The Department of Health (DOH) is all systems go for the nationwide launching of "Measles-Rubella and Oral Polio Vaccine Supplemental Immunization Activity (MR OPV SIA) Phase 2 Campaign, tomorrow, January 29, from 8 am to 11 am at the Gen. Trias Medicare Hospital and the City Health Office.
DOH Secretary Francisco T. Duque III is expected to lead the launching of the campaign along with DOH CALABARZON Regional Director Eduardo C. Janairo and will be joined by Cavite Governor Juanito 'Jonvic' Remulla, Cavite 6th District Representative Luis 'JonJon' Ferrer IV, GenTri Mayor Antonio 'Ony' Ferrer, and other government and non-government agency partners.
MR OPV SIA Phase 2 Campaign will be implemented from Feb 1 to Feb 28, 2021 covering the Visayas and Regions III, IV-A, and the National Capital Region.
Thru the campaign, the DOH aims to vaccinate a total of 9,472,468 children 0-59 months old against measles and rubella, and a total of 6,919,015 children 0-59 months against polio.
In the regional level, DOH CALABARZON said it is targetting to vaccinate about 1,524,327 children in the region, broken down as follows: 380,067 children in the province of Cavite; 306,619 in Laguna; 290,588 Batangas; 310,140 in Rizal; and 236,913 in Quezon.
Despite the ongoing health crisis brought by the COVID-19 pandemic, the DOH in partnership with the United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF) and the World Health Organization (WHO) conducted the MR OPV SIA Phase I last October 26 to November 25, 2020.(Ruel Francisco/DOH CHD)
